The Hills are Alive....

If you watch "The Sound of Music" you might see snippits of this lake - The Konigsee (the King's Lake) - you can just barely see it for the mountians she is surrounded by.... the rest of the photos are views from Eagle's Nest, driving back from Salzburg, and the mountains behind the lodge we stayed at. We had beautiful clear skies the entire weekend....

WOW! What a place! Love to hear more about the lodge where you stayed. How long a trip was this?

only the weekend.. and the lodge was formerly the hideout of a friend of hitler. the US took it over and has held it since then. It was basic creature comforts - nothing fancy - bunk beds in every room but no guard rails, so most of the parents slept on the top bunks.. a painful process for most.. the kids had the most comfortable chairs in the entire place - the tv lounge - when we allowed them to sit and watch TV, but otherwise everyone was hiking or visiting the salt mines and local area sites - of which there were many!!! 5 hour drive on the way there and 7 hours on the way back due to staus and backroads traveling.
